I’ve loved this song for forever and it featured again in my life this week! I’ve been so grateful to God for all He’s been doing this week, even today. Also, I’ve just been in awe of His majesty and abilities, and who He is. I imagine myself rolling before and bowing before Him when I sing this to show my total submission to Him; the fact that at His feet, for me, is the most high place. The fact that He is all that I have (all my material, familial and otherwise possessions and affiliations stem from and abide in Him) and all that I need.
It’s a powerful song for me. I hope you enjoy it.
This one is partly African (Yoruba, Nigeria, to be precise) in nature as it refers to God as Kabioosi - the God who is omnipresent. I've loved this song for forever, and it just became prominent again this week as I reflected on the fact that God is present with those who are His children all the time - whether in the good times or the bad. I also was reflecting on the fact that we serve a God who owns the heavens and the earth, He possesses it all! Hallelujah. It is great to reflect on who God is and this is a song that allows that. This version by Theophilus Toppar was the closest to the simple version of the song I love.
This song (So Will I) as ministered by Osby Berry has not left my head (and mouth) for days now. It's been my go-to song for a week that started with a lot of uncertainty and fatigue. I actually listened to the original Hillsong version later in the week, but this version is way better, in my opinion. It might be how passionate and into it Osby seemed, I love when people let go of the performance and just get into true worship. He channelled all of it to God, selfconsciouslessly. Even his runs were in praise, not to show off his range, like some other singers and even worship leaders do. I also connected with the lyrics a lot. It spoke again to the awe inspiring God who made all and is in control of it. The one who never leaves us alone, in spite of our failures and pigheadeness. The one who is willing to take us back. The one who we should worship, just as the creation He made does!
